Assignments recently completed by the Cohasset Group Limited include:

  • The valuation and successful sale at the top end of the Cohasset Group derived valuation, of a high-profile Napier tourism related business.
  • The comprehensive investment appraisal of a large rest home for an Iwi group, which subsequently purchased the business and buildings, based on Cohasset’s advice.
  • Preparation of a detailed schedule, including cost of capital and discounted cash-flow recommendations, in relation to matrimonial property, for filing in the High Court. And providing expert evidence in relation to the claim in the High Court proceedings.
  • Working closely with the lawyer engaged in a hostile family dispute, particularly with regard to quantifying hotchpot and the final claim submitted to the High Court.
  • Advising the owner of freehold Maori land in relation to its development.
  • Assisting a community group in its work with a District Council in particular, and other parties, in relation to fundraising for, and subsequent construction of a community sports facility. This was a pro-bono assignment.
  • Advising in relation to a hostile shareholder dispute and subsequent share purchase.
  • Preparation of an extensive $4.5m damages claim versus an international quantity surveying firm, for filing in the High Court.
  • Advising a central North Island motelier in relation to a dispute with the IRD, concerning the categorisation of significant expenditure as capital expenditure, versus immediately deductible expenditure.  This assignment involved the interpretation of income tax legislation applicable to a unit titled, body corporate management apartment, plus quantity surveying. 
  • On behalf of a property developer, writing comprehensive submissions to the South Wairarapa District Council, in respect of its Spatial Plan.
